FIELD perspectives
Field research is a crucial pressure point for addressing a lack of diversity in biology — it can be either an avenue for deep connection and sense of belonging in the biological sciences, or an alienating experience that imposes extra barriers to folks from marginalized groups. Fostering Inclusion, Equity, and Latitudinal Diversity (FIELD) aims to promote safe, inclusive, and diverse field research by bringing awareness to identity-linked challenges associated with field work, and to diversify the representation of field researchers in the public sphere.
